Our 2006 Reserve Zinfandel is an extraordinary wine. Hillside plantings as in Vicki Delpart’s Oakmont Vineyard have significant variations in terrain and exposure. Each year some of these microclimates consistently produce fruit superior to that of surrounding blocks. In 2006 we earmarked our favorite of these areas for this Reserve Zinfandel. The grapes were allowed to hang a bit longer and fermented separately from our other Zinfandel production. Aged in French and American oak and blended with 10% Syrah, the wine presents aromas of ripe blackberries and campfire. Copious fruit notes fill a balanced palate with flavors of cherry juice, pralines and coffee with cream. Built for comfort, our Reserve is delicious, big and pretty, with a long juicy finish; the wine has exceeded our own high expectations. Only 150 cases were produced. Enjoy!
